Once Upon a time .....

Just For Fun Kids' Workshop was formed by KL Bread of Life Centre, a church in Kota Damansara for their Visionary Bible School (VBS) Camp for Sunday School Children December 2004. It was headed by a committee of talented youths and the young-at-hearts Sunday School Teachers. It was a 3 day camp program where all the kids and those who consider themselves kids have fun and forget about their age. Drama, singing, hip-hop dancing, playing with dough, batik art, pop-corns and movies, story telling, quizzes, fun games and activities... Lots and lots and lots of fun going on. Let those pictures take you through the fun...

During one of our hip hop performance by the Sunday School Teachers and the kids... Wow, you can never imagine how those 40+ year old Sunday School Teachers can have such energy...

Home-based art workshop

It was after the VBS 2004 then, the idea of adopting it to a home-based art business was planned and designed. The main objective is to help women (especially full time mothers and single mothers) to gain financial independence, while they are at home caring for their little ones.

Pastor Elisha and myself explaining the home-based art workshop during one of the meetings.

As a trial run, the business kicked-off on January 2006 with just 3 students at Bandar Kinrara. Now it has more than 20 students with the first 3 pioneers still faithfully following me (at Bandar Kinrara centre).

Now, we are on a lookout for mothers and housewives, who wishes to take up the challenge the way I did and share my success story. Good and stable income, low capital and low maintenance. Qualification : must be able to handle kids from age 3 to 14 years, must be willing to attend 46 hour training sessions, experience not necessary. Those that wishes to know more, please contact Pauline at 010-2002280.

How Does Being Creative Help in Character Building ...

BEING APPRECIATIVE
students that are being taught on how to appreciate art, naturally grows up to be appreciative.

SELF BELIEF
CREATIVITY starts from a BELIEF, SUCCESS comes from an ACTION.

SELF DETERMINATION
students are encourage to finish their artwork within a time frame. all their masterpiece done by their own effort (with our guidance). there will be stopwatch to train the students on time management.

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
at each new subject, the teacher in charge would discuss by throwing lots of questions (what, where, when, how and why) to the floor. the students will then discuss and we explore together the ways of looking for solutions in many different perspective.

TEAM BUILDING AND COOPERATION
during this brainstorming session, students are encourage to speak out and share their ideas among the peers. they will then discuss among themselves and plan the layout of their artwork. there will be strictly no copying of ideas.

COMPOSITIONING SKILLS
from planning, the students are to encourage to input ideas to compose a reasonable scenario. each individual students will then arrive at their own composition of artwork.  this method has proven to help many school going children in story writing or compositions.

ORGANIZING SKILLS
now planning and organizing to put ideas into drawing, as to where to start, which picture should come first and then second.

MORAL VALUES
their discipline and behaviour are our main concern.

COMPETITIVE SPIRIT
among the peers, we cultivate the spirit of competition and encourage them to vouch for it.

SELF MOTIVATION / GROUP MOTIVATION
students will be condition to instill motivation by first doing it in a group, then slowly develop the skill of self motivation.

SELF ESTEEM
self esteem comes naturally when they complete their artwork and being appreciated and praised.

A little more about art ...

Just exactly what our name suggest, our activities and syllabus are carefully and creatively designed to incorporate fun into learning and exploring. It is planned to include story-telling (in English), experiments, poem reading, craftwork, canvas painting and sometimes games.

Classes are conducted in a stress-free manner : in a clean home environment and in small groups (not more than 8 students per class). By holding classes into small groups, we are able to encourage children's participation when it comes to brain-storming. Our syllabus also encourages children to hold discussions among themselves (within the same topic) and thus building their interpersonal skills even among shy kids. The result, I am often amazed at how they can compose a picture from just a simple assignment.

..........................

At a young tender age, kids are a natural lateral thinker. How do you know this? They are able to let their imagination soar far and tell you creative stories. They are able to come up with good excuses as to why they have never done their homework and often get away with it pretty well. They are able to tell you that they see monster under their bed just to get their way to sleep in their parents' cozy bed.

As they grow up, they are conditioned (unknowingly) by adults to think logically, thus suppressing their creativeness. Art is the best way to stimulate young brain activities and naturally gears them towards the process of developing lateral thinking. It teaches them to think out of the box or expand their horizons to think creatively in many areas of practical lives, such as idea formulation, concept development and creative problem solving. A good example, a lateral thinker solves problem better, they see problems as opportunities and are able to find alternative solutions. They love challenges and are confident about meeting challenges head on.

Art, drama, languages are some ways kids can adopt lateral thinking into their process of growing up. Furthermore, needless to say that kids learn faster when they are experiencing fun in our class. In fact, they are keen to attend classes every week.

Our Pride ...

Over here, children working to achieve perfection at their own pace... Nobody gets left behind and nobody is better than the other. Each child is special in their own ways.
